Robotic-based Composite Concrete Printing
2017 | Aalborg University | Workshop Participant
The workshop explored 3D printing polymer-based concrete using a 6-axis industrial robotic arm to adjust structural and thermal properties. Initially, Isak Worre Foged and Mads Brath from Aalborg University covered thermal material fundamentals and robot introduction. Subsequently, Shajay and Vishu Bhooshan from ZH | CODE introduced 3D printing basics and customised software Alice Studio for material behaviour and machine parameter control. The focus shifted to testing printability and concrete mix variations using the robot. My emphasis was on developing a workflow for architectural form creation: generating basic shapes in
Grasshopper, exporting points to Alice Studio, modifying them, exporting to Grasshopper, and creating robot toolpath with KUKA-PRC.
